One of the most special things we did in Morocco was take a trip into the desert to stay overnight in the Erg Chebbi dunes at the edge of the Sahara Desert. These dunes were spectacular, and the experience totally unique!

getting to this spot involved three long days in the car, but watching the sun rise over the orange dunes made it all worth it!

One of the things I was most excited to see in Morocco was the architecture, and one of the most impressive examples was Madrasa Ben Yousef in Marrakesh. This madrasa dates back to the 1500s and was once the largest Islamic school in Morocco.

We spent hours wandering the maze of student rooms and taking photos in the impressive courtyard. Pro-tip: if you want to take photos, arrive right when it opens at 9:00. We had the place to ourselves for just a few minutes, and by 9:15, it was packed!

We've been home almost a month, and I'm finally getting around to sharing our photos from our trip to Morocco in February. I was blown away by just how beautiful this country was and wish we had stayed longer!

Accommodation in Torres del Paine National Park is notoriously expensive. For most of our trip, we stayed in an Airbnb in the town of Puerto Natales, about an hour outside the park entrance, and drove in for our hikes each morning. But on the last night of our trip, we splurged to stay inside the park at Hosteria Pehoe.

For $350/night, our room was extremely basic, and I mean extremely. As in no wifi in the room and hot water only during certain hours. In any other location, I'd call it a total ripoff, but the hotel does have the absolute best location on a small island in Lake Pehoe. The views are nothing short of spectacular!

One of the most popular hikes in Patagonia is the Laguna Torre hike in El Chalten. This 13 mile hike is long, but easy, with very little climbing as you wind your way through the valley to the viewpoint.
.
Unfortunately, the view at the lake was totally blocked by the clouds when we did this hike. It would be best on a clear day, especially if you can get there for sunrise.
.
While many people turn around once they reach the lake, we highly recommend continuing in the trail that ascends along the edge of the lake to get to Mirador Maestri. This was actually our favorite part of the hike, with awesome views of the glacier below.
